Valeriano Antonioli, Managing Director, has lead and continues to lead a team of talented employees through the planning, execution, opening, and success of InterContinental Montelucia Resort & Spa. Bringing with him to this role is a vast knowledge of the industry, having worked for Starwood for a number of years in Europe and most recently as General Manager of the W Hotel in Los Angeles, California.  Valeriano fluently speaks Italian, German, French and English, and his many talents have made him an industry icon in Europe as a highly regarded and celebrated hotelier with a reputation for transforming ordinary hotels into vibrant destinations of choice for discerning travelers.  The majority of his career has been with European luxury hotels such as CIGA and Kempinski prior to joining Starwood.   He transitioned to the U.S. three years ago where he continues to make his entrepreneurial mark and has an established reputation as a progressive industry innovator of the unique and distinctive to ensure an unparalleled guest experience.

Q:  What was the number one reason you decided to join our team at InterContinental Montelucia Resort & Spa? 

A:                 I truly love what I do and am passionate about creating a sense of fun. We want to help our guests create lasting memories and perfect moments to take with them when they return home. Our goal is to create the realization of fantasies for our guests.  We have a philosophy of not thinking in a standard way – we want to be a unique resort unlike any other.

 

Q:  Where did you grow up?

A:                 I grew up in Bormio, Italy.  I grew up skiing in the beautiful mountains of Italy in the center of the Italian Alps.

 

Q:  What is your favorite film?

A:                The Matrix (original) is my favorite film – I like how it shows a different vision of the world.  I saw it eight times in three languages.  I even know the quotes!

 

Q:  What is your favorite book? 

A:                 I love the Harry Potter series.

 

Q:  What is your past experience in the hotel industry?

A:                  I have operated hotels in five countries, in two continents, and in four different languages. This gives me the opportunity to draw from the best of all these experiences and incorporate them into the InterContinental Montelucia Resort & Spa product.
