Q:  What was the number one reason you decided to join our team at InterContinental Montelucia Resort & Spa?

A:                 I knew that InterContinental Montelucia Resort & Spa would be the top resort in what I believe is the best resort town in Arizona.  When InterContinental Montelucia Resort & Spa opened its doors to our community, it firmly positioned itself on the track of becoming the best resort in town.

Q: How did you get started in the hotel industry?

A:                 I got my start while washing dishes at Farrell’s Ice Cream Parlor.  I was given the nickname “slime,” for obvious reasons as a dishwasher!  This may be shocking, but it still ranks as one of my favorite jobs; I was hooked on hospitality.

Q:  Education?

A:                 I received a public relations degree and hadn't ever thought of working in hotels.  I had a difficult time finding my first job, and I ended up looking at hotels, where I felt immediately at home.

Q: What are you passionate about?

A:                Running, reading and technology.  I love how much technology enhances our lives.

Q: What do you like best about the hotel business?

A:                Working in resorts is wonderful.  My favorite time of year is vacation, and in the resort business, every day is vacation for the arriving guests.

Q: What advise do you have for someone interested in Sales & Marketing?

A:                My advice would be to make a plan and go after it.  Take an entry-level job and work hard and learn about everything you can.  It can be hard to break into, but any job will start you on your path.  Set realistic goals and believe that your hard work will pay off!
